The monument honours the inventor of the Armenian alphabet. The work is dedicated to Mesrop Mashtots and Isaac Partev, the creators of the Armenian alphabet, both of whom are considered saints in the Armenian Apostolic and Roman Catholic Churches. In the centre, the artist has engraved the following phrase from the Old Testament: ‘They serve wisdom and education and help to understand astute speech.’
